STUDENT MATINEE PERFORMANCES
Providing students a gateway to experiencing professional theatrical performance and understanding the value of contemporary dance
CCDT presents two distinct touring programs each year: WinterSong -- dances for a sacred season in December, and a spring production in May. Both programs feature dances selected from the work of over 35 international choreographers, with performances held at beautiful local theatres in Toronto and around Ontario. Student audiences grades 1-12 will delight in a diverse presentation of age-appropriate contemporary dance, ranging from classic modern dance to urban street dance fusion to comedic dance theatre.
Performances, including a Q&A session, last about 60 minutes and are animated by CCDT Artistic Director Deborah Lundmark, who introduces each piece with a brief description and explanation of its history. A comprehensive corresponding Performance Guide for teachers is made available for both programs.

CCDT presents these programs annually each December and May at Toronto's prestigious Fleck Dance Theatre. Additionally, our spring program tours to a selection of cities in Ontario, with performances at local theatres. These excursions will excite students grades 1-12 to see CCDT's Company dancers -- still in their teens -- perform live on stage.

I came here from Mississauga with my dance class, and the entire time I was sitting there with my jaw dropped at how amazing the performance was... I walked out of there thinking about how dance has no boundaries, no barriers, no limitations, just commitment and passion. Thank you for one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had through dance.

As the music and drama teacher of the school, for some time I have been looking for a performance that would introduce our students to modern dance. Your show was exactly what I was looking for, and more. Not only was it entertaining and beautifully performed, but the commentary and the fact that the dancers were young people made the show that much more accessible for our students.

All I have to say is FANTASTIC! I was so moved and intrigued with the talent that came off the stage. It was brilliant. We need to get more and more people to come and see the exceptional and wonderful works of art that come from these performers and choreographers.

The opportunity for young students to view other young people dance in a professional manner, in a professional setting is incredibly valuable. My students saw, first hand, the results of a peer's dedication, practice and devotion to their craft. This first-hand experience addresses so many points of our Arts Curriculum. The many genres represented in the program also helps to bring to life Dance Curriculum in terms of exposing students to live examples of aspects of modern and traditional dance forms.

If you ever do a show again – I will be there! Now I know to sign up for dancing.
