509 DANCE is one of Canada's foremost dance centres, located on Parliament Street in the heart of Toronto's historic Old Cabbagetown. 509 DANCE is a ten thousand square foot complex offering state of the art Harlequin-surfaced sprung flooring, spacious studios with 20-foot ceilings and computerized climate control.

Formerly the Carlton cinema building, 509 DANCE is set in a neighbourhood of fabulous shops, restaurants and distinctive Victorian residential architecture. Under Canadian Children's Dance Theatre administration, 509 DANCE is the creative home to hundreds of emerging and renowned dance artists, including Fujiwara Dance Inventions, and previously the Danny Grossman Dance Company and such Resident Guest Artists as Andrea Nann, Louis LaBerge-Côté, Darryl Tracy, Heidi Strauss, Carol Anderson, Laurence Lemieux, Bill Coleman, Suzette Sherman and David Earle.

Parking:  Street Parking and Parking Lot across from studio (on Aberdeen) $4.50 per day

• HVAC: climate control air conditioning and heating to 72 degrees Fahrenheit
• Equipment: pianos, barres (floor/centre), mirrors

• Lobby: seating for 15 adjacent to studios A & B
• Reception: counter with telephone in lobby adjacent to studio’s A & B
• Audio Cassette/CD: portable
• Video: VHS
• Restaurant/Shops: full services within a one block radius

Ceiling Height: 17’6”
Flooring: sprung with Harlequin grey “Cascade” surface (no rosin required or permitted)
("A" studio may be opened to "B" for 44’6 x 73’6 dimensions)

Studio B: 45’x33’ (1500 SQ’)
Ceiling Height: 17’6”
Flooring: sprung with Harlequin grey “Cascade” surface (no rosin required  or permitted)

Studio C: 44’x36’ (1600 SQ’)
Ceiling Height: 20’0”
Flooring: sprung with black Harlequin “Studio” surface suitable for use with dance shoes or bare feet
("C" studio may be opened to "D" for 38’ x 62’ dimensions)

Studio D: 34x26’ (900 SQ’)
Ceiling Height: 20’0”
Flooring: sprung with Harlequin “Studio” surface suitable for use with dance shoes or bare feet

The studios are available from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm Monday to Friday with some evening and weekend availability. Please call for details.

PLEASE NOTE: STUDIO HOURS FOR AUGUST ARE 9:30am - 6:00pm.
THE STUDIO WILL NOT BE OPEN BEFORE 9:30am.
